vernajast inspired by a prompt from her and because I needed something to fulfill my angst quotient. Thanks to _ofuda_ for beta and discussion. Missed you.
Semi-AU, post-Kyuubi where Minato didn't die. Kakashi is in his late teens.

( Minato needed a distraction to escape. He looked down to find the dagger still clutched in his hand. He took careful aim and threw. The man dropped to the ground with a cry. Minato didn't want to have to kill or even wound the younger man, but he had to get free. )
